Menu Bars

An essential part of the Mac OS, you can't fully recreate the feel of a Mac without having a menu bar. Here are some different menu bars for your use.

Homepage

ObjectBar is a fully skinnable taskbar replacement that emerged from MacVision. It is capable of recreating various operating system toolbars, as well as custom styles and themes created by yourself of the community. ObjectBar is not free though, and the demo version is crippled and displays nag warnings.

MacVision is an excellent program that puts a, yes, fully functional toolbar at the top, just like on MacOS 8! MacVision has a built in system tray handler that puts the icons that are in your system tray into the MacVision taskbar, beside the clock. MacVision also has a built-in skinning feature, allowing you to make the windows look like Mac OS 8. It also skins progress bars, scrollbars, pushbuttons, radio buttons, checkboxes, and pop-up menus.MacVision is no longer in development and the author has gone on to create the rather successful ObjectBar. The version of MacVision on the web has a expiration lock, so here is a patched version which removes the lock.

WinMac is a nice menu bar application that has been around for quite a while. It is capable of replicating the menu bars of System 7 up to Mac OS 9, as well as Mac OS X and the old OS X Server. WinMac is very lightweight, making it great for older machines. WinMac is no longer in development, and the latest release dates back to 2003.
